Summary

Type Sculpture

     Two over-life-size figures in steel plates welded together. Each has its own plinth, stands on one leg and leans forward (as if in a contemporary dance) shaking the other's hand thereby forming an arch between the two pedestals.
         

Inscriptions

On a metal plaque screwed to the bridge parapet to the rear of the sculpture: ‘Cross the Divide' / by Rick Kirby / [space] / Unveiled by Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret, / Countess of Snowdon on 25th September 2000 / [space] / The sculpture was commissioned by the / Guy's and St Thomas' Charitable Foundation / in association with de Putron Art Consultants
